Men

When looking at many problems in America today, at the root you will find the failure of men. Studies and research show that more than 90 percent of prisoners are male, and there is an alarming increase in the number of fatherless homes. There are 98 million men in the United States; only 35 million claim to know the Lord in some way.

At First Church, we believe in building strong men. Why? Because strong men build strong families, and strong families build strong churches. We believe that at the heart of every man, there is a desire not to fail, but to succeed. Our mission as a Men’s Ministry is to train and support men for success in all aspects of their lives – in the home, the workplace, and in Christian service.

By providing opportunities for fellowship and discipleship, we are making a difference in men’s lives.

Sunday Evening Men’s Prayer

The men of First Church meet for a time of united prayer each Sunday from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

Pastor’s Prayer Team

The Pastor’s Prayer Team consists of men who join together in prayer for our pastor and ministry team. Each team member is assigned a specific day each month on which to pray. The team also meets one Saturday each quarter for a special prayer breakfast with Pastor Becton. For more information on how to join us, please contact Rev. Larry Stanfill, team coordinator, at 615.352.0369.

Men’s Fishing Trip

In addition to our various weekly and monthly activities for men, the Men’s Ministry also takes an annual deep sea fishing trip each May. This two-day trip to Destin, Fla., is always a fantastic time of fellowship. For information on dates and registration, please contact the church office at 615.297.1450.

Nashville Men’s Conference

Each summer, First Church hosts an annual gathering of men from across the region at the Nashville Men’s Conference. The two-day event features teaching, fellowship, music and worship.

A pre-conference golf scramble has become a highlight of the weekend for many conference attendees, as it provides an opportunity for additional fellowship and fun. Proceeds from the scramble benefit various ministry efforts.

It’s a wonderful time of spiritual growth and strengthening for men as together we pursue biblical manhood.

Ministry Development

For those who feel a calling to ministry, Pastor Becton leads regularly-scheduled Ministry Development classes. These practical teaching sessions are designed to equip aspiring ministers as they pursue God’s calling on their lives. For more information about Ministry Development, please contact Pastor Becton during office hours at 615.297.1450.
